About the Series
Holding a mirror to the American Church to see what the world sees…
What are Christians? What is the perception of Christians by those outside the faith, and does it line up with the expectations set for believers in the Bible? These are the questions we want to answer with this documentary project.
This six-part documentary series, produced and hosted by Zack Lawrence (In His Steps, Indy Christian Review), sets out to evaluate modern American Christianity by asking people three simple questions:
- What are Christians?
- What’s the best interaction you’ve had with a Christian?
- What’s the worst interaction you’ve had with a Christian?
By contrasting the answers of non-Christians and Christians, and comparing it all with the standards in the Bible, we hope to hold up a mirror to the American Church and discover if that reflection is what it should be.
Zack Lawrence is a producer, director, and actor who has been working in film production since 2004. If you ask about any part of the filmmaking process, pre- to post-production, in front of or behind the camera, chances are he’s done something in that area! His credits include 4 feature films, 10 TV and web series, and over 60 short films.
Zack’s life as a pastor’s kid has given him a unique perspective on American church culture that he’s passionate about sharing through film. His goal with this and other projects is to encourage and inspire the church to become a more effective reflection of Jesus Christ to the world around us.
